4D CULTURE project 2nd SUMMERSCHOOL ON ANDROS ISLAND 22-26/6/2023 (Event presentation)

The second summer school of the 4DCulture project took place on the picturesque island of Andros in Greece. The event brought together more than forty participants from different European countries. The University of West Attica (UNIWA), with the contribution of the Hellenic Dance Academy Lygkistes from Athens, organized the workshops. The primary focus was on analyzing the project’s main objectives, tasks, and results.

During the summer school, a vibrant cultural exchange unfolded among groups from diverse backgrounds. Participants from Portugal, Lithuania, Germany, Bulgaria and Greece immersed themselves in traditional dance classes, sharing their unique dance styles and techniques. The event also provided a platform to showcase traditional costumes from Germany, Greece, Portugal, Bulgaria and Lithuania, with informative explanations about their regional significance and distinct features.

An exciting highlight of the summer school was the presentation of the 4DCulture virtual online platform. Participants had the opportunity to delve into a virtual reality environment, equipped with special glasses, to learn and experience traditional dances. They also accessed detailed information about different traditional costumes through the platform.

Also, a very constructive meeting was also held with the Mayor of the island, where the developments of the project and the workshops of the summer school were discussed. Throughout the event, valuable data was collected to guide future steps and facilitate the completion of various project tasks by the collaborating partners. The summer school proved to be a fruitful endeavor, fostering cultural appreciation, academic growth, and unforgettable memories for all involved.
