VISIT ΤΟ PAKISTAN IN THE FRAME OF THE PROJECT
Participation of UNIWA project team representatives to staff exchange in the frame of SMARTEX project (P1 University of West Attica)
During the period 8 to 14 May 2022, staff and students exchange was carried out in the frame of SMARTEX Project (Modernization of curriculum of Textile Engineering and Textile Technology in Indonesia, Malaysia and Pakistan) and more specifically, representative from European partners (University of West Attica (Greece) IDEC Company (Greece), University of Ghent (Belgium) and Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain)) visited the partner-Universities at Pakistan.
Universities at Pakistan, which participate to the Consortium are:
- Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) and
- NED University of Engineering and Technology (NED).
Partners from Malaysia (Universiti Teknologi MARA and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia) and Indonesia (Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and Politeknik STTT Bandung) were also participated to the study visit to Pakistan.
This activity consisted of two parts:
- The conduction of the transnational partners’ coordination meeting and
- the deliverance of intensive seminars by European staff members to academic staff and students of Asian Universities.
Simultaneously, activities like Industrial visits, visits to Research centres (NIC, AI, HPCC, Smartcity, VR) visits to the premises of the Universities and to sightseeing were implemented.
Training seminars included the know-how for the integration of smart textiles, technical textiles and the modernisation of textiles industry into the new curricula of the Asian Universities.
In the seminar realized in the premises of “Soorty Enterprises”, under the title: “Quality Framework for internships in Higher Education it was presented:
- “SMARTEX proposal for Asian Universities” (IDEC),
- “Interaction Between University/Textiles Companies In Spain” (UPV),
- “Management of Smart Textile Waste” (UNIWA), and
- “Smart and technical textiles and their applications for the modernisation of the textiles industry” (UGENT).
At the other seminars for Academic staff, executives from Industry, and students, presented topics as:
- Implementation of smart and technical textiles into the new curricula.
- Eco Design Perspective for Wearable Devices.
- Introduction to learning management systems Moodle.
- The UPV and textile students. The GIITEX research group.
The subjects and the content of the seminars were according to the project progress and to the specific needs were noticed during the project.
The attendance was very high from both Universities. More than 500 students and academic staff were participated in the seminars (Figure 1, 2). Also, more than 100 Industrial Guests were attended the seminars in Universities and during the visit in Soorty Enterprises (Figure 3, 4).
